Here's an excerpt...

It’s a sunny Saturday afternoon when Mary Beth and her favorite toy bunny, GracieDee, set the table for afternoon tea. The sun is streaming through the west window of the attic playroom.
The five-year-old Mary Beth pulls white china, gracefully decorated with tiny blue flowers, from a nearby trunk. She carefully sets four places with a teacup and saucer, a biscuit tray, and a tea spoon. Then in the center she places the stout tea pot next to the sugar bowl and creamer. All set, Mary Beth and GracieDee stand back to admire their arrangement.
“We’re missing a table cloth,” Mary Beth says, one corner of her mouth turning down.
“The trunk,” GracieDee responds cheerfully. “We can fashion a table cloth from material I saw in the trunk.” With that, Mary Beth and GracieDee turn toward the trunk that earlier held the china. It stands by itself just off center, near the west window. Its rounded top and well worn leather straps tell of its long service to Mary Beth’s family. First it was her mother’s to store blankets, then Mary Beth took it over to hold her playthings. Still inside are a few blankets and pieces of material with no purpose, as of yet.
GracieDee hops in and is soon lost in a cloud of chenille and satin. The muted colors meet the sunshine as GracieDee pulls a few smooth pieces of satin from the bottom.
“I like the yellow,” Mary Beth says reaching for her choice.
Folding the pale yellow swatch over one of the child-sized chairs, Mary Beth clears the table, placing all the settings neatly on the floor.
“Be careful, now,” Mary Beth says to GracieDee, “we don’t want to break anything. Why don’t you sit over there.” Mary Beth points to the chair on the opposite side of the small wooden table and GracieDee takes a seat.
Just like her mother does for Christmas dinner, Mary Beth parachutes the satin cloth over the table and lets it settle in, a little off kilter. GracieDee reaches out to straighten the cloth while Mary Beth does the same on her side. Then, with care, Mary Beth resets the table for her guests.
Taking a seat across from GracieDee, Mary Beth looks at her imaginary watch.
“They’re late,” she says, pursing her lips.
Just then a knock comes at the door...
